Modulate Privacy Policy

Overview

Modulate ("the App") is a tinnitus sound therapy application developed by B & Z Industries, LLC. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data.

The short version: Modulate does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

Data Collection

Modulate does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

• No account required. You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use the App.
• No analytics. The App does not include any analytics frameworks, tracking pixels, or usage monitoring.
• No network connections. The App does not connect to the internet. There is no server, no API, and no cloud service. All functionality is fully offline.
• No advertising. The App contains no advertisements and no ad-related SDKs.
• No third-party SDKs. The App does not include any third-party code that collects data.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your iPhone using Apple's Core Data framework:

• Tinnitus frequency profiles: the frequencies you identify through the pitch matcher
• Therapy session history: dates, durations, therapy modes, and volume levels of your sessions
• Daily loudness ratings: your self-reported tinnitus loudness scores
• THI assessment results: your Tinnitus Handicap Inventory questionnaire responses and scores
• App preferences: your settings such as tone spacing preference and reminder time

This data is stored only on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere.

HealthKit

If you grant permission, the App can read audiogram data from Apple HealthKit (hearing test results from AirPods Pro). The App uses this data to:

• Validate your pitch match result against your hearing profile
• Suggest tone spacing preferences based on your hearing characteristics

The App accesses HealthKit in read-only mode. It does not write any data to HealthKit. Audiogram data is processed on-device and is not stored separately or transmitted.

Notifications

If you enable the optional daily reminder or session milestone notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to any server.

Data Export

The App includes a data export feature that creates a JSON file of your session history and assessments, and a PDF report feature for sharing progress with your audiologist. These files are generated on your device and shared only through the iOS share sheet, so you control where they go. The App does not send this data anywhere automatically.

Data Deletion

All App data is stored locally on your device. To delete all data:

• Delete the App from your iPhone. This removes all stored data permanently.
• Alternatively, you can delete individual tinnitus profiles through the App's Settings.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be included in the App update and posted at this URL. The "Last updated" date will be revised.
